It is in the Uvs Province, in the northwest of Mongolia, that some of Mongolia's jewels can be found: long stretches of sand dunes, vast salt lakes, and several mountain ranges, including the Kharkhira and Turgen, which reach up to 4,000 meters.
In this region, the landscapes blend desert, rocky, and sandy terrains, where expanses of sand and granite create visually stunning contrasts.
And there, rising literally from the desert, stand the Kharkhira and Turgen mountains.
We offer you a short trek around Kharkhira, between Lake Ashit and Ulaangom.
Accompanied by our friends the Durkhuud, the predominant ethnic group in this area of the country, you will enjoy their distinctive accent and zest for life, which will be highlights of this trek.
The equipment will, of course, be carried by camel, as these animals are ubiquitous in this desert region.
